What signing here means

Your browser checks the envelope first — you see the document and whether every existing signature holds before you touch anything.
Your device creates a signing passkey (first touch), then signs (second touch). The passkey's challenge is the envelope's exact state — your signature covers the document and every signature before yours, and cannot be replayed onto anything else.
An independent timestamp authority attests that your signature existed by that moment. The only thing sent to it is a hash — never the document.
You download the countersigned envelope and send it back however you received it. Keep a copy; it verifies on its own, forever.
